This front walkway was tired, dated, and poorly defined before the upgrade. The layout lacked structure, and the surrounding soil was constantly spilling onto the pavers, creating both a visual and functional problem.
We started by reshaping the entire front walkway and reinstalling the pavers in a clean herringbone pattern, immediately giving the entrance a more intentional and polished look.
To properly address the surrounding grade issues, we then built a small garden retaining wall along the perimeter of the walkway. This wall serves a dual purpose:
Functionally, it retains the surrounding soil and prevents it from washing onto the pavers, keeping the walkway clean and properly defined over time. Since the project was completed, Terry and Jane have told us multiple times how often their neighbors stop to compliment the new look.
Visually, the wall frames the walkway, adds depth, and dramatically improves curb appeal.
The result is a front entrance that looks structured, intentional, and finished — not just a walkway dropped into dirt. This is a perfect example of how a simple retaining wall addition can significantly improve both the usability and appearance of a space.
