This project involved a full interlock repair of approximately 400 square feet, running from the house out to the structural pillars shown in the photos.

Over time, the interlock had progressively failed. Ongoing movement created severe heaving, opened up the joints, and allowed moisture to penetrate beneath the pavers. During freeze–thaw cycles, this trapped water expanded, accelerating the damage year after year. Eventually, the surface lost grade and began holding water directly against the foundation — a situation that, if left unaddressed, would have led to far more costly foundation repairs.

To correct the issue properly, we lifted all existing pavers, removed excess and compromised material, and re-compacted the entire subgrade to restore stability. We then reintroduced a high-performance, clear stone bedding layer designed to drain efficiently and prevent water from sitting beneath the pavers — a critical step in long-term durability.

Once the base was corrected, the pavers were fully re-leveled and reinstalled to restore proper drainage away from the home.

As a final step, we completed a full joint restoration. All existing joint material and weeds were mechanically removed, and the surface was finished with high-quality polymeric sand to lock the pavers together and minimize future movement.

The result is a stable, properly graded surface that protects the foundation, restores the appearance of the space, and extends the life of the existing interlock — without the cost of a full reconstruction. Katie and Jimmy were extremely happy with the outcome.
